The setup guide

When you first open Eturns, Today shows a guide called Hand Eturns the shift. It has four steps, always in the same order, and a progress line such as “1 of 4 complete”.

Each step is marked done by something real happening in your store — not by clicking a button. That way the guide tells you the truth about whether shoppers can actually reach you. When every step is done, the guide says: “You are ready — returns flow to Decisions only when needed.”

1. Returns on your store

Add an Eturns block to your theme so shoppers can start a return from your store. Customer portal & theme setup shows every block and where it goes.

This step completes only when a real shopper starts a return from your store. Choosing Add to theme opens the theme editor for you, and I see the button hides the reminder, but neither one marks the step done.

You can finish this step yourself: place a test order on your store, then start a return for it from the block you added.

2. Choose who decides

Choose Set who decides to open Policies → Who decides. Pick how much Eturns may do on its own and check your money limits, then choose Save policies. Saving once completes the step, even if you keep the starting choice.

Not sure what to pick? New stores start on You approve each case. Keeping it for your first weeks lets you read Eturns’ reasoning on real cases before you give it more room. See Who decides.

3. Set portal journeys & emails

Choose Set customer experience to open Policies → What customers see. The step completes when you set the Hub button label or the Success page message — the words shoppers see when they start and finish a return.

Your store name and logo arrive from Shopify on their own, so they don’t count here. While you’re on the page, look through Customer emails and turn off any you don’t want sent.

4. Handle your first case

This step completes when your first case exists — usually the first return a shopper starts, or the first message or warranty claim that arrives. Open it in Decisions, read why Eturns recommends what it does, and approve, modify or decline it.

What you see on a case, and what each button does, is in the Decisions tour.

Hide for now

Hide for now tucks the guide away. It comes back after 14 days if step 1 or step 3 is still open, because those are the two steps shoppers notice. Eturns remembers that you hid it in the browser you used, so another browser may still show the guide.
